I like cupcakes, especially chocolate ones, yummy stuff. But somehow it never dawned on me to model one. Then again, there are a great many things I haven’t modeled yet. In fact I probably still wouldn’t have thought of it, if I hadn’t seen David’s latest tutorial on BlenderCookie.com. That’s right, yummy 3d cupcakes in time for BlenderCookie’s birthday.
And they do look yummy. Mmmmmm…. cupcakes. I like cupcakes.
When I saw the banner image for the tutorial, I was immediately impressed with the texture of the cupcake itself. It really looks cake-like, making this a “must see” tutorial. Imagine my surprise to discover that he created the cake texture with Volumetric materials. I would have never guessed that Volumetrics could be used for cake texture. Somehow I got it into my head that Volumetrics was best used for cloud type things or maybe fire. Cupcakes are not very cloud or fire-like.
Not only did David do a good job explaining 3d cupcake baking, he also has a BlenderCookie birthday present for all of us. The files for his cupcake tutorial are available for free download. He also managed to make me want cupcakes. Dang, now I am going to have to run to the store.
Mmmmmm…. cupcakes. I like cupcakes.
